Steelers Have Been In Contact With DB Marcus Cooper

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the Steelers have been in contact with free agent DB Marcus Cooper.

Earlier in the day, Connor Hughes of NJ.com reported that the Jets have interest in Cooper.

Cooper, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 49ers’ 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was later claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs.

Last year, the Chiefs traded Cooper to the Cardinals in return for a conditional 2018 seventh-round pick.

Cooper played out the final year of his four-year, $2.205 million contract and is now in a position to be an unrestricted free agent.

In 2016, Cooper appeared in 15 games for the Cardinals recorded 69 tackles, four interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown and 11 pass defenses.
