Steelers Expected Try To Sign OLB Jason Worilds & K Shaun Suisham To Extensions

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Steelers will try to sign OLB Jason Worilds, K Shaun Suisham and CB Cortez Allen to extensions in the coming weeks.

It’s worth mentioning that the Steelers do not negotiate contracts with players once the season has gotten underway, so progress would obviously have to be made in the next few weeks.

The Steelers used the franchise tag on Worilds back in March, guaranteeing him $9.745 million in 2014.

It would seem in Pittsburgh’s best interest to offer Worilds a deal that would lower his cap figure this season while keeping him under team control for the foreseeable future.

Worilds, 25, produced 63 tackles, eight sacks and two forced fumbles this season and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 12 outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense last season.

Allen, 25, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is set to make $645,000 for the upcoming season.

Last year, he appeared in 14 games for Pittsburgh and recorded 51 tackles, two interceptions, 13 pass defenses and a defensive touchdown.

Suisham, 32, has spent the past four years in Pittsburgh and is coming off of his best season. Last year, he converted 93.8 percent of his field goal attempts.
