NFL Teams Reportedly Have Medical Concerns Regarding Emmanuel Sanders

Scott Brown of ESPN.com reports that Steelers free agent WR Emmanuel Sanders may not secure the kind of contract he is believed to be seeking due to medical concerns regarding his feet.

According to Brown, NFL teams could be “leery” of signing Sanders to a long-term contract given that he has a screw in each of his feet.

Brown mentions that Sanders is “believed” to be seeking a contract similar to the one Golden Tate signed with the Lions — five-year, $31.5 million deal with $13.25 million guaranteed.

So far, Sanders has reportedly met with the Jaguars, Buccaneers and Chiefs, and has a visit scheduled with the 49ers on Saturday.

Brown adds that the Steelers are still “open to the possibility” of re-signing Sanders, however it would most likely be at a lower price and includes fewer years.

Sanders, 26, is coming off of his best season in the league. He totaled 67 receptions for 740 yards and six touchdowns over the course of 16 games.

Pro Football Focus has Sanders rated as the No. 60 receiver in the league last year.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Steelers free agent WR Emmanuel Sanders is scheduled to visit with the 49ers on Saturday.

San Francisco is reportedly meeting with Julian Edelman as well, so it appears as though they are in the market for another receiver.

Sanders has reportedly met with the Chiefs, Buccaneers and the Jaguars this week. The Patriots and Jets have also been mentioned as potential options for Sanders as well.
