Steelers Free Up More Cash By Restructuring NT Casey Hampton’s Contract

Mac’s Football Blog reported earlier in the day that the Steelers restructured the contract of NT Casey Hampton to free up some more cap space.

Hampton was set to make $4.89 million for the upcoming season which would have gone against their cap as $8.1 million so reworking this deal makes plenty of sense when you consider that they’ll have to be prepared to lockup WR Mike Wallace if someone tries to sign him away. Pittsburgh reduced Hampton’s salary to $2.8 million which drops his cap number to $3.09 million.
