Steelers HC Mike Tomlin Potentially On The Hot Seat?

According to Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report, there are some people within the Steelers’ locker room that believe HC Mike Tomlin could be a source of their issues.

  • Cole mentions that there is a “legitimate concern” that Tomlin’s seat could be hot right now as Art Rooney II is now running the team.
  • Cole points to the fact that they fired former OC Bruce Arians and hired Todd Haley to run their offense as an indication that the Steelers aren’t as patient as they have been in the past.

The Steelers have struggled mightily with penalties this season recording 57 of them over their first six games of the season.

The idea of firing a Super Bowl-winning coach may see a little surprising, but Cole does not believe it’s an implausible idea.

Haley has been under fire since he took the job with Pittsburgh and many have blamed him for the team’s struggles. However, there is no question that poor results will eventually fall at the feet of the head coach.

Since taking over the Bill Cowher in 2007, Tomlin has won 74 games and lost 44 (.627), which includes one Super Bowl title.

Pittsburgh is currently 3-3 on the season and could easily get things straightened out and in the coming weeks and return to the postseason.

We’ll have to see how things go over the next eleven weeks of the season if there is more speculation that Tomlin’s job could be in danger.
