Steelers Hosting Veteran G Geoff Schwartz For A Visit

Josina Anderson of ESPN reports that the Steelers are bringing in free agent G Geoff Schwartz for a visit on Thursday.

Schwartz reportedly scheduled a visit with the Cardinals, but Arizona elected to sign Evan Mathis to a contract, which prevented them from meeting Schwartz.

The Dolphins have also come up as a potential option for Schwartz. However, there hasn’t been any buzz regarding the idea in recent days.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Schwartz to a contract wouldn’t factor into a team’s 2017 compensatory picks.

Schwartz, 29, was in the third year of his four-year, $16.8 million contract that included $6.2 million guaranteed he he was released in a move that freed up $2,991,666 in available cap space for the Giants.

In 2015, Schwartz was limited to appearing in 11 games for the Giants. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 guard out of 82 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
