Steelers & LB Lawrence Timmons Unlikely To Get Extension Done

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the Steelers and ILB Lawrence Timmons are unlikely to get a contract extension done before the start of Monday night’s game.

This is notable, considering that the Steelers have made it a point shut down all negotiations with players once the season is underway.

Timmons, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Steelers back in 2007. He’s in the final year of his six-year, $50 million contract that included an $11 million signing bonus and stands to make a base salary of $8.75 million in 2016.  before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent next March.

Timmons is now in position to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent next March.

In 2015, Timmons appeared in all 16 games and recorded 119 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, an interception and six pass defenses for the Steelers.
