ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed LB Lawrence Timmons to a five-year deal worth $50 million. Schefter notes that the Steelers have invested $111.5 million in LaMarr Woodley and Timmons.
It’s interesting that the Steelers were able to get this deal done know since they had very little cap space as of earlier last week. Obviously some contracts were redone to free up enough money to lockup Timmons.
Age has been an issue for the Steelers and their defense but Pittsburgh will now have two solid linebackers to build around in the coming seasons.
We had Timmons listed as the No. 17 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
