Steelers & OC Todd Haley Could Be At Crossroads

According to Ian Rapoport, the relationship between Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and OC Todd Haley is “in as bad of a place as it’s been in years.

In fact, things are so bad in terms of communication between the two that QBs coach Randy Fichtner has come down from the booth to serve as a conduit on the sidelines.

Interestingly enough, Haley will be a free agent once the Steelers’ season is over. As of now, the Steelers have yet to consider their staff, but the expectation is that they’ll sit down after the season and discuss matters including Haley.

If the Steelers are willing to allow Haley to walk, Rapoport says that he could follow OL coach Mike Munchak to Arizona if he gets the Cardinals’ head coaching job.

Should the Steelers move on from Haley, Rapoport says that one option could be to promote Fichtner.

Haley suffered a broken pelvis a few weeks ago after being involved in an incident that took place on New Year’s Eve.

Haley, 50, began his NFL career with the Jets as a scouting assistant back in 1995. He has worked for a number of teams including the Bears, Cowboys and Chiefs before joining the Steelers as their offensive coordinator in 2012.

We’ll have more regarding Haley as the news is available.
