Rainey was arrested back in January for allegedly pulling his girlfriend out of a car and slapping her across the face. He recently pleaded no contest to the charges of disorderly conduct.
The Steelers took Rainey in the fifth-round of last year’s draft, but didn’t hesitate to cut him loose following the incident. They had to wait until today to officially place him on waivers.
It will be interesting to see if another team shows interest in him given that there were a number of character concerns that came up during the draft process.
