The Steelers and Gilbert previously discussed a potential contract extension back in August, but nothing ever came of the talks.

Pittsburgh’s next four games are against the Packers, Bengals, Ravens and Patriots.

Gilbert, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Steelers back in 2011. He is currently entering the fourth year of his six-year, $30.815 million contract that included a $7.65 million signing bonus and is set to make a base salary of $3.95 million for 2017.

In 2017, Gilbert has appeared in five games for the Steelers and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 11 offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
