Steelers Place S Ross Ventrone On Injured Reserve

According to Jeremy Fowler, the Steelers have place S Ross Ventrone on the injured reserve list.

Ventrone apparently suffered a serious injury during the Steelers’ preseason loss to the Lions on Friday.

Ventrone, 29, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova back in 2010. He spent the good majority of his career on and off of the Patriots’ practice squad before joining the Steelers.

After a short stint with the Steelers, Ventrone returned to the Patriots. However, New England elected to cut him loose a few weeks later. Ventrone would up finishing out the year with the Steelers.

Ventrone is in the final year of his contract and was set to make $675,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Ventrone appeared in six games for the Steelers and recorded three total tackles while predominately playing in a special teams role.
