Steelers Place S Shamarko Thomas On I.R. & Waive RB Daryl Richardson

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially placed DB Shamarko Thomas on injured reserve and waived RB Daryl Richardson on Saturday.

The Steelers also promoted DB Al-Hajj Shabazz and DE Johnny Maxey to their active roster.

Thomas, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2,613,152 contract and stands to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

This year, Thomas appeared in eight games and recorded seven tackles no interceptions or pass defenses.

Richardson, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He spent two years in St. Louis before he was waived and later claimed by the Jets, but was unfortunately among the team’s early roster cuts.

The Texans signed Richardson in September and was on and off of their practice squad for most of the year before being waived close to a month ago. The Browns wound up signing him to their practice squad towards the end of last year but later signed a future/reserve contract with the Steelers.

Richardson has been on and off of the team’s roster this season.

In 2016, Richardson has appeared in three games and ran for seven yards on two carries to go along with no touchdowns.
