Steelers Placing QB Bruce Gradkowski On I.R.

Alex Marvez of the Sporting News reports that the Steelers are placing QB Bruce Gradkowski on injured reserve Wednesday to make room for QB Zach Mettenberger, who was claimed off waivers from the Chargers.

Gradkowski, 33, is a former sixth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2006. He lasted two years in Tampa Bay before he waived and later claimed by the Rams.

Gradkowski had stints with the browns, Raiders and Bengals before signing a three-year contract with the Steelers back in March of 2013. Pittsburgh brought him back on a one-year, $965,000 contract this past May.

Last year, Gradkowski appeared in one game for the Steelers, but didn’t attempt a single throw. His 2015 season ended with him being placed on season-ending injured reserve with finger and shoulder injuries.
