Steelers Promote ILB L.J. Fort To Active Roster, Place FB Roosevelt Nix On I.R.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Monday that they’ve promoted ILB L.J. Fort to their active roster and placed FB Roosevelt Nix on season-ending injured reserve.

Fort, 25, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa back in 2012. He last just over a year in Cleveland before he was among their final roster cuts.

Since then, Fort has played for the Broncos and Seahawks before signing a future/reserve contract with the Bengals back in early January. Unfortunately, the Bengals waived him right before this year’s NFL Draft.

The Patriots signed him to a contract during the preseason, but he was later waived and claimed by the Steelers. Pittsburgh cut Fort loose at the start of the season before signing him to their practice squad a day later.

In 2014, Fort appeared in one game, but didn’t record a single statistic.
