Steelers Promote WR Cobi Hamilton To Active Roster, Cut CB Al-Hajj Shabazz

The Pittsburgh Steelers have promoted WR Cobi Hamilton to their active roster and placed CB Al-Hajj Shabazz on waivers Saturday, according to Ed Bouchette.

Hamilton, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Bengals back 2013. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the team coming out of the preseason during his rookie season but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.

Hamilton briefly played for the Eagles in 2014 before returning to Bengals mid-season and later being claimed off of waivers by the Dolphins. Miami elected to waive Hamilton him at the start of last year.

The Panthers signed him to a future/reserve contract in January only to waive him this summer. Hamilton later signed on with the Steelers before being cut and later added to their practice squad at the start of the regular season.

Hamilton has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Shabazz, 24, originally signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of West Chester in July of last year but was waived as the team trimmed their roster down to 75 players.

The Steelers signed him to a future/reserve contract in February but was waived as the team got down to the 53-man limit. He was signed to the team’s practice squad after clearing waivers.

Pittsburgh elected to promote him to their active roster ahead of Week 5.

In 2016, Shabazz appeared in one game and recorded one total tackle.
