Steelers QB Byron Leftwich Suffers A Broken Arm

Interestingly enough, Ralph N. Paulk of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review wrote earlier today that the Pittsburgh Steelers had enough depth at quarterback that some of their backups could actually be starting for other NFL teams like the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers right now.

Well that luxury appears to be over as head coach Mike Tomlin told reports that Byron Leftwich had suffered a broken arm during tonight’s game.

I’m sure it’ll be an extended period of time,” said Tomlin in regards to the length of time Leftwich may miss.

Obviously this is not the way that you want to clear up depth chart but Dennis Dixon and Charlie Batch are two remaining players quarterbacks on the teams roster.

Last year Dixon looked great during the preseason before suffering a season-ending injury of his own. Batch ended up having had a great game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while Ben Roethlisberger was serving a suspension but so far he’s only had four pass attempts during the preseason. Dixon will most likely end up as the teams backup as they been using him a good amount in the previous weeks. You can expect to a lot of both players next week.
