Steelers Re-Sign CB Al-Hajj Shabazz To PS, Release DB Brandon Dixon

The Pittsburgh Steelers officially re-signed CB Al-Hajj Shabazz their practice squad and released  Steelers released DB Brandon Dixon from the unit.

The Steelers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DL Johnny Maxey Jr
  2. DE Caushaud Lyons
  3. DB Jacob Hagen
  4. OT Matt Feiler
  5. OT Keavon Milton
  6. WR Marcus Tucker
  7. RB Dreamius Smith
  8. LB Shaq Riddick
  9. DB Mike Hilton
  10. CB Al-Hajj Shabazz

Shabazz, 24, originally signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of West Chester in July of last year but was waived as the team trimmed their roster down to 75 players.

The Steelers signed him to a future/reserve contract in February but was waived as the team got down to the 53-man limit. He was signed to the team’s practice squad after clearing waivers.

Shabazz has been on and off of the Steelers’ active roster but was cut loose to make room for K Randy Bullock. The Texans claimed him off waivers from Pittsburgh a few weeks ago but he was waived this past weekend.

In 2016, Shabazz appeared in six games and recorded just one tackle.
