Steelers Release LB James Farrior

Ralph Cindric reports that the Steelers have in fact released ILB James Farrior.

Gerry Dulac tweeted last night that this could be a sign that they’ll be drafting Dont’a Hightower to replace him.

Larry Foote is also rumored to be on the chopping block so we’ll have to see any comes of that this weekend.

The agent for Steelers LB James Farrior mentioned that he expects his client to be release by the team in the coming days.

It’s not a done deal, but the percentages just aren’t there,” said agent Ralph Cindrich, via the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Farrior, 36, has been one of the team’s leaders and has manned the middle of their defense for the last ten years. He has a $2.825 million for the upcoming season but the team’s current financial crisis leaves them with very little options. So far, the Steelers haven’t discussed restructuring his current deal which could be a sign that he’s on the outs, considering that Hines Ward was let go without being approached either.
