Steelers Restructure WR Antonio Brown’s Contract, Free Up $4M In Cap Space

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing a league source, reports that the Steelers have restructured the contract of WR Antonio Brown and in turn freed up $4 million in cap space for the 2014 season.

Brown, 25, signed a six-year, $43.04 million contract that includes $8.5 million guaranteed back in 2013. He had a base salary of $6 million coming his way this season to go along with a cap figure of $8.47 million.

Pittsburgh was still projected to be just under the $133 million salary cap, so moves needed to be made if they are going to have any money to work with in free agency. The Steelers should have close to $3.5 million in cap space.
