Steelers Sign HC Mike Tomlin To Contract Extension Through 2020

Update:

The Steelers have already announced the new extension for HC Mike Tomlin.

“I am pleased to announce we have extended Mike Tomlin’s contract through the 2020 season,” said Steelers President Art Rooney II. “Mike continues to prove he is one of the top head coaches in the National Football League. We appreciate the leadership that Mike has provided over the last 10 seasons, and we are confident and excited to have him continue to lead our team as we focus on winning another championship.”

“I truly appreciate this contract extension, and I want to thank Art Rooney II for his support as well as everyone within the organization,” said Tomlin. “My first 10 years in Pittsburgh have been an amazing experience for me and my family. I’m proud to call Pittsburgh home. My focus is on the upcoming season, and our goals remain the same as they always are – to bring a seventh Super Bowl championship back to our city.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday that they’ve officially signed HC Mike Tomlin to a contract extension, according to Gerry Dulac.

  • Ian Rapoport confirms the news and adds that he’s under contract through the 2020 season.

A report from a few weeks ago mentioned that Tomlin’s contract with the Steelers vested based on the number of wins the team has had. Tomlin is now under contract with Pittsburgh through the 2019 season.

Tomlin is widely considered to be one of the best head coaches in the NFL, so it’s not surprising to hear that the Steelers have at least considered the possibility of extending his contract beyond the 2019 season.

Tomlin, 45, was hired as the Steelers head coach back in 2007 and managed to win a Super Bowl in just his second year with the franchise.

In total, Tomlin has a career record of 103-57 (64.4 percent), which includes seven playoff appearances in 10 seasons.
