Steelers Sign LB Vince Williams To Four-Year, $20.6M Extension

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Thursday that they’ve signed LB Vince Williams to a four-year extension through 2021.

  • According to Ed Bouchette, Williams’ four-year deal is worth $20.6 million.

“I feel like the Rooney family gave me an opportunity to play professional football,” said Williams. “It’s a great culture here. A great fan base.

“I take pride in being in Pittsburgh. It’s a hard-nosed group of individuals who work here. I feel like the people here are no nonsense, hard-working individuals. They are proud people too. I love this place.

“There have been so many great players that have played for the Steelers, so many great linebackers. Just the legacy here. The history. It’s so deep and rich. I really feel like I can relate to the people of Pittsburgh.”

This comes shortly after the news that the Steelers locked up K Chris Boswell to a new four-year deal.

Williams, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2013. He was in the final year of his three-year, $6.175 million contract and set to make a base salary of $2 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Williams appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers and recorded 89 tackles, eight sacks, an interception and a pass defense.
