Steelers Sign QB Bryn Renner & G Antoine Everett, Cut Two

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Saturday that they’ve signed QB Bryn Renner and G Antoine Everett to contracts.

  • The Steelers also waived RB Christian Powell and waived C Valerian Ume-Ezeoke with an injury designation.

Should Ume-Ezeoke clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Renner, 26, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina back in May of last year. However, he lasted just a few month in Denver before he was waived at the start of the 2014 season.

The Ravens later signed him to a future/reserve contract at the end of last season, but he was on and off of their practice squad during the 2015 season before signing on to the Titans’ practice squad in late December.

The Chargers signed him to a contract back in March to be their third-string quarterback, but he was unfortunately waived to make room for Zach Mettenberger in May.

Renner has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Powell, 22, signed on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Coloarado a few months ago. However, he unfortunately lasted just over a week in Pittsburgh before he was cut loose.

The Steelers elected to bring Powell back a few weeks ago.

During his four-year college career, Powell ran for 2,040 yards on 461 carries (4.4 YPC) to go along with 33 receptions for 229 yards receiving and 18 total touchdowns.
