Steelers Sign RB Gus Johnson To Practice Squad, Add RB Dreamius Smith To Injured List

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that they’ve signed RB Gus Johnson to their practice squad and placed RB Dreamius Smith on the practice squad injured list.

Johnson, 23, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin back in May. He lasted just a few days with Oakland before he was waived and later signed on with the Cowboys.

Johnson was on and off of the Cowboys’ practice squad before signing on to the Falcons taxi squad back in October. The Falcons signed him to a future/reserve contract in January before cutting him loose a few weeks ago.

The Chargers later claimed him off of waivers, but he lasted just a few days in San Diego before returning to the Falcons’ practice squad for a brief stint. Johnson later finished out the year on the Chargers’ practice squad.

Johnson has yet to appear in an NFL game.
