Steelers Sign TE Jake McGee, Waive/Injured TE Scott Orndoff

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that they’ve signed TE Jake McGee to a contract and waived TE Scott Orndoff with an injury designation.

Magee, 25, originally signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in May of last year. He lasted just a few weeks in Carolina before he was cut and later signed by the Raiders.

Unfortunately, Magee was among the Raiders’ final roster cuts coming out of the preseason, but he managed to catch on to the Chargers’ practice squad and was brought back on a future/reserve contract this past January.

However, Los Angeles elected to waive him shortly after this year’s draft.

During his college career at Florida, Magee caught 112 passes for 1,150 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns over the course of 47 games.
