Steelers Sign Three To Futures Deals Including WR Trey Griffey

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Monday that they’ve signed three players to futures contracts for the 2018 season including WR Trey Griffey, WR Tevin Jones and RB James Summers.

As of now, the Steelers have signed 13 players to futures deals including:

  1. CB Dashaun Phillips
  2. LB Farrington Huguenin
  3. S Jordan Dangerfield
  4. TE Jake McGee
  5. LB Matt Galambos
  6. DE Lavon Hooks
  7. LB Keith Kelsey
  8. WR Justin Thomas
  9. WR Marcus Tucker
  10. DE Casey Sayles
  11. WR Trey Griffey
  12. WR Tevin Jones
  13. RB James Summers

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

Griffey, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Colts an undrafted free agent out of Arizona back in May of last year. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Colts waived with an injury designation a few months later and he reverted to their injured reserve list.

Indianapolis waived him from injured reserve soon after and he caught on with the Dolphins in August, but was waived at the start of the regular season.

During his college career at Arizona, Griffey caught 79 passes for 1,241 yards receiving and six touchdowns over the course of 35 games.
