Steelers Place Original-Round Tender On RFA OT Chris Hubbard

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the Steelers have used a low-round tender on restricted free agent OT Chris Hubbard.

The original-round tender will cost the Steelers around $1.8 million for the 2017 season and give them the right of first refusal for any offer sheet he receives from another team during free agency.

Hubbard, 25, signed on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of UAB back in 2013. He spent his first year on the practice squad before returning to the team on a future/reserve contract.

The Steelers signed Hubbard to a one-year contract extension in January of last year.

In 2016, Hubbard appeared in 15 games for the Steelers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 39 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.
