Steelers Trying Out Kickers Kai Forbath, Chris Boswell, & Randy Bullock

Update:

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Steelers are also bringing in former Texans K Randy Bullock for a tryout on Saturday.

Bullock, 25, was in the final year of his four-year, $2.278 million contract when the Texans elected to release him earlier in the week and sign former Chargers K Nick Novak.

Bullock has converted 83.3 percent of his field goals this season over the course of three games, but has missed two of his five extra point attempts.

J.P. Finlay of CSN Mid-Atlantic is reporting that the Steelers will host former Redskins K Kai Forbath for a tryout in the coming days.

This comes less than a day after Josh Scobee missed two field goals from less than 50 yards that could have helped them defeat the Ravens.

Forbath, 28, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2011. He lasted a around eight months with the team before he was placed on waivers and later claimed by the Redskins.

However, Washington elected to release Forbath a few weeks ago. Since then, Forbath has worked out for the Texans and Eagles.

Scobee, 33, came over in a trade with the Jaguars a week before the start of the season after Pittsburgh placed K Shaun Suisham on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.

The Steelers sent a 2016 sixth-round pick to the Jaguars in return for Scobee and agreed to pay him the full $3.45 million salary for the 2015 season as part of the deal.

Since joining the Steelers, Scobee has converted just 60 percent of his field goal attempts including 3 of 7 from 40 yards or more. He has also missed an extra point.

Boswell, 24, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Rice back in May of last year. He was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster, but later ended up on the Texans’ practice squad.

The Giants wound up signing him to a future/reserve contract in early January, but was unfortunately among their final roster cuts at the start of the season.

Boswell has yet to appear in an NFL game.
