Steelers Waive K Randy Bullock, Promote WR Demarcus Ayers

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they’ve waived veteran K Randy Bullock on Monday and promoted WR Demarcus Ayers to their active roster.

Bullock, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Texans back in 2012. He spent three years in Houston before signing on with the Jets in November of last year.

The Giants signed him to a contract coming out of the preseason while Josh Brown served his one-game suspension. New York later released him upon activating Brown and it wasn’t until a few weeks ago that the Steelers signed him to a contract.

In 2016, Bullock has appeared in two games and has converted all three field goal attempts to go along with three of four extra point tries and had six touchbacks.

Ayers, 22, is a seventh-round pick by the Steelers of the 2016 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $2.41 million rookie contract that included a $79,652 signing bonus and is set to make a base salary of $450,000 this season to go along with another $540,00 in 2017.

Pittsburgh waived him as they trimmed down to the 53-man limit but signed Ayers to the practice squad after clearing waivers.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his three-year college career at Houston, Ayers accumulated 141 receptions for 1,686 yards and nine touchdowns. He also recorded 28 rushing attempts for 152 yards and one touchdown.
