Steelers Waive LB Shawn Lemon

The Pittsburgh Steelers placed LB Shawn Lemon on waivers Thursday, according to the NFL Transactions release. The move was listed with Lemon failed physical designation.

The Stampeders released Lemon from his contract in order to allow him to pursue a career in the NFL back in January. It was just a few weeks later that the Steelers signed him to a future/reserve contract.

Lemon, 26, recorded 31 tackles, 13 sacks, an interception and tied the CFL single-season record with eight forced fumbles during the 2014 season.

He’ll obviously have to compete for a job in training camp this summer.
