Steelers Waive RB Isaiah Pead, Promote RB Fitzgerald Toussaint

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday that they’ve promoted RB Fitzgerald Toussaint to their active roster and waived RB Isaiah Pead.

Pead, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He was in the final year of his four-year, $4.038 million rookie contract when St. Louis waived him a few weeks back.

This season, Pead has been active for two games and ran for three yards on two carries (1.5 YPC) and lost a fumble. He has also totaled 63 kick return yards.

Toussaint, 24, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan back in May of last year. He was unfortunately among the Ravens’ roster cuts at the start of the season, but later signed on to the Steelers’ practice squad just a few days later.

In 2014, Toussaint appeared in three games for the Ravens and ran for  12 yards on six carries to go along with three receptions for 27 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
