Steelers Waive WR Tyler Murphy, Promote CB Doran Grant

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that they’ve placed waived WR Tyler Murphy and promoted CB Doran Grant to their active roster.

Murphy, 23, signed on with the Steelers back in as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College. He’s in the first year of his four-year, $1.579 million rookie contract included a $4,500 signing bonus.

Murphy was waived a month ago to make room for RB Le’Veon Bell, who has been reinstated from his suspension, but was later added to the team’s practice squad. The Steelers promoted him a few weeks ago.

This season, Murphy has appeared in two games and caught one pass for 16 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Grant, 22, was taken in the fourth-round of this year’s draft, but was unfortunately unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. The Steelers later signed him to their practice squad after he cleared waivers.
