Steelers Waive/Injured WR Dez Stewart, Cut LS Kameron Canaday

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday that they’ve released LS Kameron Canaday and waived/injured WR Dez Stewart.

If Stewart clears waivers on Monday, he would revert to the Steelers’ injured reserve list.

Stewart, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Ohio Dominican back in May of last year but later signed on with the Buccaneers before being waived with an injury designation after just a few weeks.

After clearing waivers, he reverted to the Buccaneers’ injured reserve but was cut loose a month later. He had a brief stint with the Redskins and later signed on to the Packers’ practice squad.

Stewart has yet to appear in an NFL game.

During his four-year college career, Stewart totalled 196 receptions for 3,197 yards receiving (16.3 YPR) and 25 touchdowns. He also contributed 416 kick return yards and 171 punt return yards to go along with one return touchdown.
