Steelers WR Mike Wallace Set To Report To The Team This Weekend & Sign His Tender

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Steelers WR Mike Wallace is expected to report to the team this weekend and sign his one-year tender.

Wallace will obviously miss Pittsburgh’s third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, but he will at least have two weeks of practice and the final preseason game to get prepared for the start of the season.

Bouchette adds that Wallace’s decision to report to the team before the start of the regular season could “reopen negotiations on a multiple-year deal.

This is certainly a possibility, but it would most likely take some concession on behalf of Wallace to get something done, considering the cap issues that the Steelers have had. It will also be interesting to see how Wallace looks upon returning to the team. Normally, players that holdout take a few weeks to get up to speed in terms of the team’s offense. It just so happens that Pittsburgh is implementing a new offensive scheme this year, so I’m sure Wallace will require a few weeks before being truly effective.

We have Wallace listed as the No. 4 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
