Steven Jackson An Option For The Packers?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (Insider), should Rams RB Steven Jackson decide to void his contract and become a free agent following the season, the Green Bay Packers could be a potential suitor for the veteran running back.

The Packers have always been interested in Jackson and now that his contract is up, it would make some sense for Green Bay to take a look,” writes Schefter.

Schefter adds that the Packers “won’t have a lot of money to spend,” and the fact that they still have to address key players like Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews would suggest that they would only consider bringing him if “his demands are reasonable.

There’s no question that Green Bay is in need of some help at the running back position. Cedric Benson landed on the injured/reserved list due to a foot injury, which has exposed their lack of depth at the position yet again.

We have Jackson listed as the No. 14 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agent List.
