According to Dan Pompei of the Bleacher Report, Steven Jackson is expected to remain the Falcons’ starting running back in 2014.
Jackson will be 31 years old at the start of the 2014 season and is coming off the worst statistical season of his career ten-year NFL career.
Pompei mentions that although he was a disappointment in his first year with the Falcons, the team’s coaching staff were content with Jackson’s play overall when he was actually healthy and believe that poor blocking contributed to his horrible 3.5-yards-per carry average.
Jackson signed a three-year contract worth $12 million that included $4 million guaranteed with the Falcons last year.
Atlanta has made it quite clear that revamping their offensive line this offseason will be at the top of their priorities list, which will hopefully get Jackson back on track next year.
He finished the season with 542 yards on 156 carries and seven total touchdowns over the course of 12 games. While the yardage figures are pretty bad, he did manage to find the end-zone a decent amount.

Great point. Jackson’s YPC and total rushing yards look horrible, but the TDs are certainly a positive indication that could be a real factor with improvements to the offensive. Should be a real interesting offseason for ATL.
