Still A Chance DeMarcus Ware Could Return This Season?

Vic Lombardi of Altitude Sports Network mentioned during an interview with Pro Football Talk that it’s possible DeMarcus Ware‘s recent decision to call it a career could end up being a “soft retirement” with him potentially returning at some point later this year.

Lombardi added that Ware is in great shape, despite the back issues he has dealt with the past few years. By waiting until later on in the season, Ware could ensure he’s in great shape and full health before looking to catch on with a contender towards the end of the season.

Ware had been testing the open market and reportedly met with the Rams this past weekend (NFLTR). The Broncos and Cowboys were also mentioned as landing spots for Ware, given that he’s played his whole career for those two teams.

Ware, 34, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2005. He spent nine years in Dallas before signing on with the Broncos in 2014.

During the offseason, Ware agreed to a restructured contract with the Broncos included a $ million base salary for the 2016 season to go along with a $2 million signing bonus and another $3.5 million that was available in incentives.

The Broncos placed Ware on season-ending injured reserve with a back injury towards the end of the season.

In 2016, Ware appeared in 10 games and recorded 15 tackles, four sacks and a pass defense for the Broncos.
