Still No Progress Towards A Long-Term Contract For Joe Flacco

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that a source with knowledge of the situation has informed him that Ravens and QB Joe Flacco have yet to make any progress towards long-term contract.

Baltimore has said that they would like to get something done with Flacco in the near future but every indication seems to point to Flacco looking for Top 5 quarterback money.

[I]t either gets done or it doesn’t,” Flacco recently said, via the Baltimore Sun.  “And I’m not really too involved in the process besides letting him know how I feel and letting him take care of that and letting the Baltimore Ravens take care of their side.  And that’s really my involvement.  It’s not about the money, it’s about what you as a player feel that you deserve.  And at the end of the day, they’ll take care of it and I’ll be waiting.

The Ravens will have their franchise tag available to them should they get a contract in place with RB Ray Rice. GM Ozzie Newsome has expressed optimism regarding their progress so a deal could be done in the coming months. This force Flacco to earn the kind of money that he’s looking for rather than committing to him right now.
