“Strong Possibility” Falcons Consider Signing CB Champ Bailey

According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com, there is a “strong possibility” that the Falcons will consider signing veteran CB Champ Bailey this offseason.

  • McClure adds that Bailey would likely have to be willing to play nickelback for the Falcons.

This comes from an article regarding Falcons restricted free agent CB Robert McClain who could draw interest from other NFL teams, despite receiving a tender earlier this week.

If the Falcons were to lose McClain, they would obviously need to find a new nickerback, which is why McClure mentions that Bailey could be asked to play the position.

McClure adds that Bailey is a Georgia native, and this isn’t the first time we’ve heard that he could consider playing for the Falcons.

The Broncos officially released of Bailey this past Thursday, so he’ll be available to sign before the start of free agency next Tuesday.

Bailey, 35, totaled 14 tackles over the course of just five games last year. He dealt with a number of injuries last year, so his age and future productive will likely be concerns for prospective teams. It should be interesting to see what kind of market develops for him in the coming weeks.
