Suspended Cowboys DE Randy Gregory Applying For Reinstatement Thursday

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Cowboys suspended DE Randy Gregory will submit his application for reinstatement to the Thursday.

The expectation all along was that Gregory was going to file the official paperwork to return to the NFL at some point in the near future, so this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

Gregory will need to meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell once he’s applied for reinstatement.

Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones mentioned at the Combine that they plan to move forward as if Gregory wouldn’t be with the team for the upcoming season. However, the team has said in recent weeks that they would welcome him back to the team if/when he’s officially reinstated.

Gregory wound up missing the entire 2017 season while serving a suspension for another failed drug test.

Gregory, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in May of last year. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.814 million contract that includes $1.404 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.

In 2016, Gregory appeared in two games for the Cowboys and recorded nine tackles and a sack.

We’ll have more regarding Gregory as the news is available.
