Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reports that the talks between the Bills and free agent RB Reggie Bush are ongoing.

According to Florio, the Bills view Bush as a potential option at punt returner and as a “replacement/clone” for LeSean McCoy, if he needs a break or is injured.

Last week, Bush told USA Today that he continues to get asked about possibly signing with the Bills, since a report surfaced that they were strongly considering him.

“I know everybody’s been texting me and asking about Buffalo, but as of right now, I haven’t made a decision,” Bush told USA Today. “But if the opportunity is there, obviously, Buffalo is the most known one right now. But we’ll see. I’m still trying to figure out what’s going to be the best opportunity for me and my family.

Bush added that coming off of an injury actually makes him more motivated to get back out there and prove himself.

“I think when you come off of an injury, you’re that much more motivated to bounce back and to prove that you can still be you,” Bush said. “And not only to people, but to yourself, as well. That’s my motivation: just to bounce back. And I don’t want to end a career — ever — on an injury. Not that I’m ready to hang it up, but I’m definitely on the back end of my career. I want to put together a solid couple years of really just playing healthy football.

I know that right now, I’m not ready to shut it down yet,” Bush said. “I’ve got some good years left.

A few weeks ago, Bush said that two NFL teams had expressed interest in him, but added that he plans to take his time in securing another opportunity.

“I’ve received calls from two teams and just taking my time in this process,” Bush said, via Sirius XM NFL Radio. “I want to do it the right way.”

Bush, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2006. He spent five years in New Orleans before being traded to the Dolphins in 2011. After two years with the Lions, Bush signed a one-year contract with the 49ers before his 2015 season came to an early end.

Bush sustained a torn MCL that he suffered after slipping on the exposed concrete at the Rams’ stadium in St. Louis.

In 2015, Bush appeared in five games and ran for 28 yards on eight carries (3.5 YPC) to go along with four receptions for 19 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
