According to ESPN’s John Clayton, who appeared on SportsCenter yesterday, Seattle Seahawks QB Tarvaris Jackson will be the first quarterback to receive reps.
“(Flynn) hasn’t wowed anybody in all the offseason program. And because of that, when they start training camp, Tarvaris Jackson will be taking the first snap,” Clayton said. “… It’s still gonna be a three-way competition. Because of that, Flynn’s going to have to pick things up and wow everybody or at least take control of it during camp. He’s not done it yet.”
The fact that Flynn “hasn’t wowed anybody” is a little concerning as he was brought in to solidify the quarterback position. Seattle was smart to give him only a three year deal that includes reasonable base salaries.
Jackson will obviously have an opportunity to outplay Flynn during training camp, but I’d be surprised to see either of them run away with the job.
