Bears RB Marion Barber Retires From The NFL

The Chicago Bears have announced that RB Marion Barber has decided to retire from the NFL.

This is obviously interesting because we just posted that there are a few teams interested in him but his hard running style had to have taken a toll on him.

Now that the Chicago Bears have signed Michael Bush to a three-year deal, it’s expected that RB Marion Barber will be released in the coming days.

Vaughn McClure tweets that the Philadelphia Eagles and the St Louis Rams are reportedly interested in pursuing him if or when he becomes available.

Last year, both teams signed veteran running backs during free agency but neither Cadillac Williams or Ronnie Brown panned out for them. Barber would seem like a better fit for the Eagles given their previous struggles in short-yardage situations, but Barber isn’t exactly the same player that he once was so there’s no guaranteeing that he’ll be effective for them moving forward.
