Teams Calling Buccaneers About Vincent Jackson, Doug Martin, & Mark Barron

Update:

Rick Stroud reports that the Buccaneers are willing to consider offers for RB Doug Martin, and S Mark Barron, but are less likely to trade WR Vincent Jackson because his age will factor into the offers they get for him.

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that the Buccaneers have received inquiries from teams regarding WR Vincent Jackson, RB Doug Martin, and S Mark Barron.

  • Ian Rapoport confirms Werder’s report that they are getting calls for these three players, but adds that the Bucs are not having a fire sale.
  • Rapoport reported over the weekend that the Eagles, Patriots and Seahawks are among the teams that have reached out to Tampa Bay regarding Jackson’s availability.
  • Rapoport later added that the Chiefs have “some interest” in Jackson as well.
  • Jason La Canfora mentioned that the Buccaneers would likely ask for a second-round pick in return for Jackson.

It’s hard what anyone is offering for Jackson given that he comes with a sizable contract.

Jackson, 31, is in the third year of his  five-year, $55,555,555 contract that includes $26 million guaranteed. He’ll make base salaries of $10 million, $9,777,777, and $9,777,778 over the final three years of his contract.

So far this season, Jackson has caught 25 passes for 344 yards receiving and two touchdowns over the course of six games.

As for Martin, ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously reported the Buccaneers would prefer to move Martin rather than trade away Jackson.

This is reportedly due to rookie Charles Sims coming back from injury at some point in the near future.

Martin, 25, still has two years remaining on his four-year, $6,787,528 rookie contract with reasonable base salaries of $1,007,048 (2014) and $1,315,572 (2015) coming his way.

Over the course of four games, Martin has ran for 139 yards on 48 carries (2.9 YPC) and scored just one touchdown.

We’ve seen Dashon Goldson‘s name tossed out as a trade option, but this is the first we’ve heard of interest in Barron.

Barron, 25, is in the third year of his four-year, $14.465 million rookie contract and is owed $2,362,704 for the 2015 season. He has recorded 49 tackles, one fumble recovery and three pass defenses over the course of seven games.

We’ll have more updates regarding possible trades as the news is available.
