Teams Not Showing Much Interest In Houshmandzadeh

The market seems to have cooled on wide-receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh for the time being. Despite several rumors and erroneous reports, Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress has come out and denied that the team has interest in the free-agent.

Childress said that the team will focus on its young receivers and the other players who are familiar with the west-coast offense. The Vikings seem as though they feel that Greg Camarillo will be a better of option for the team than bring in Houshmandzadeh.

Another team that seemed like they could have interest in Houshmandzadeh was the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Marvin Lewis made it clear that they will not be the ones who bring him.

“If our team were constituted differently this would be a great spot for him to be back at,” Lewis said. “But right now where we are I don’t know that it would be good for him in respect to where we are.” This report comes from Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

“It’s unfortunate that T.J. got released. He’s going to get another opportunity. He’ll make the most of that opportunity and I’ll be happy for him,” Lewis said. “I had people call and contact me as far as T.J. and I gave him a true, honest appraisal and a very honest one. T.J. helped us get where we are today. He’s a good, young pro and a good man and he did a lot of good leading in this building.”

Houshmandzadeh’s options will surface soon enough, he’s just going to have to sell himself a little better because of the drama that he was apart of in Seattle.
