Tennessee DE Derek Barnett Visiting With Eagles Monday

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Tennessee DE Derek Barnett is visiting with the Eagles on Monday.

Barnett recently mentioned that he has visited or will do so with the Titans, Buccaneers, Cowboys, Browns and Redskins.

Barnett tells Jim Wyatt of TitansOnline that he believes he would be a good fit in either a 4-3 or 3-4 base system due to his versatility.

I think anywhere I go would be a good fit because I am very coachable,’’ Barnett said. “I am not good at just one thing, I think I am good at multiple things. I am very versatile so I think I can get the job done in a 4-3, 3-4, rushing outside, standing up, rushing inside, anywhere.

“… I may not be the best tester in the world, but when I get on the field I think I have proven to be pretty decent at that. Whatever team picks me is going to get somebody who is very competitive, a great leader. But most importantly they’re going to get somebody who knows how to get after the quarterback and impact games.”

Barnett, 20, is widely considered to be one of the best pass-rushers in this year’s draft class and should hear his name called on day one of the draft.

During his three-year college career at Tennessee, Barnett recorded 198 tackles, 32 sacks, an interception, six pass defenses, two fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles for the Volunteers.

We have him being selected by the Saints in the First Round of our 2017 NFL Mock Draft.
