Texans Claim WR/KR DeAndre Carter, Waive RB Tyler Ervin

Field Yates reports that the Texans have claimed WR DeAndre Carter from the Eagles and waived RB Tyler Ervin on Wednesday.

Carter, 25, originally signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State back in 2015. He lasted just a few months in Baltimore before he was waived coming out of the preseason.

Carter had brief stints with the Raiders, Patriots and 49ers before signing on with the Eagles this past July. He’s been on and off of the Eagles’ roster this season.

In 2018, Carter has appeared in seven games for the Eagles and caught two passes for 21 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He has also contributed 307 kick and punt return yards.

Ervin, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Texans back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.887 million contract and was set to earn a base salary of $630,000 this season.

He appeared in four games during his rookie season before landing on injured reserve with a torn patellar tendon.

In 2018, Ervin has appeared in nine games for the Texans and recorded three receptions for 35 yards receiving and no touchdowns, to go along with 253 kickoff return yards and 175 yards as a punt returner.
