Texans Cut RB Akeem Hunt To Make Room For WR Andy Jones

John McClain reports that the Texans have waived RB Akeem Hunt to make room for WR Andy Jones, who was claimed off of waivers from the Cowboys on Sunday.

Hunt, 24, originally signed on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in May. However, he was unfortunately among their early roster cuts. The Ravens later signed him to their practice squad, but he lasted just a week in Baltimore.

The Texans signed him to their practice squad in November of 2015 before calling him up soon after. Houston elected to waive Hunt coming out of the preseason but he was once again added to their practice squad and was eventually called up to the active roster.

In 2016, Hunt appeared in eight games for the Texans and ran for 109 yards on 20 carries (5.5 YPC) to go along with three receptions for 29 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also recorded 194 yards as a kickoff returner.
