Texans Cut Running Backs Tim Cornett & Dennis Johnson

According to Aaron Wilson, the Houston Texans continue to revamp their backfield, this time by cutting RB Tim Cornett and RB Dennis Johnson.

Cornett, 22, signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of UNLV back in May. He happanes to be UNLV’s all-time leading rusher totaling 769 carries for 3,733 yards (4.85 YPC) and 35 career touchdowns.

Johnson, 24, appeared in eight games last season for the Texans as a rookie, registering 183 yards on 49 carries.  Johnson is a diminutive back, but does carry special teams value and should find another job soon.

These two transactions come on the heels of the release of RB Andre Brown, and the signings of Ronnie Brown and William Powell.  It is clear that the Texans wanted to a different type of back behind starter Arian Foster.
