Texans DE Christian Covington Out For Season With Torn Bicep

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Texans DE Christian Covington is out for the season after suffering a torn bicep during Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks.

You can expect the Texans to place him on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

The Texans continue to lose players in their front seven, as they’re already without DE J.J. Watt and OLB Whitney Mercilus.

Covington, 24, is a former sixth-round pick of the Texans back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2,370,484 contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Covington appeared in seven games for the Texans and recorded 16 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 interior defender out of 117 qualifying players.
